Electric Daisy Carnival producer Insomniac is giving emerging electronic dance music acts the chance to DJ alongside their heroes at this year’s EDC Las Vegas with the return of its Discovery Project competition series. The sold-out festival, which features the world’s top names in the DJ world, runs from June 21 - 23 at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Winners of the competition will perform at the 17th annual fest on June 21 and 22. Insomniac will accept submissions from artists through 11:50 p.m. on Sunday, June 2. In addition to filling out an entry form on the Discovery Project website, interested DJs and producers should submit an original track as well as a 30-minute DJ mix that showcases their particular style and sound.

“Our fans are some of the most creative and talented people in the world and that’s why Insomniac created the Discovery Project – to allow undiscovered talent the opportunity to gain exposure at some of our premier festivals,” Insomniac CEO and founder Pasquale Rotella said in a statement. “This is the second year the Discovery Project is accepting submissions to play during EDC Las Vegas, and we’re really hoping to attract some original artists who aren’t afraid to take risks.”

Judging for the competition will be conducted by a panel from Discovery Project organizers and will be based on originality and technical ability. Participants are encouraged to promote their work through MixCloud, SoundCloud and personal social media platforms.

The Discovery Project competition was first introduced for the 2012 festival and featured 17 winners who performed at EDC’s Discovery Stage throughout the weekend.
