Indie pop band and frequent Las Vegas visitors Capital Cities teams with Joywave for a concert on September 20 at the Downtown Las Vegas Events Center. General admission tickets are $25 and VIP tickets are $35, available at dlvec.com.

What's that? You've never heard of the DLVEC? That's because it's brand new. Find it at the corner of Third Street and Carson Avenue in Downtown Las Vegas, just behind the D hotel and casino. The new outdoor venue can accommodate up to 15,000 guests for concerts, conventions and other large-scale events.

The site was formerly the home of the Clark County Courthouse, which closed in 2005. Derek Stevens, CEO of the D, was the only interested bidder for the 2.76-acre site, paying $10 million and then quickly demolishing the courthouse building to make way for the events center. The D hosted concerts by Stone Temple Pilots and Kid Rock for its anniversary celebration last September, and according to today's announcement, the DLVEC "will play host to a lineup of curated events including premier concerts, food festivals and more."

Before Capital Cities takes the stage, the venue will host the Great Vegas Gridiron Grill-Off BBQ and Tailgate Festival on September 6 and 7, an open-to-the-public cooking competition and sampling featuring "The Godfather of BBQ," Johnny Trigg.
