Neon Reverb 2016: Festival 101 and the full schedule

Image
Prepare to spend a lot of time at the Bunkhouse.

What's this Neon Reverb thing my Downtown friends keep mentioning? A four-night music festival, staged in the venues of Fremont East, returning this weekend for its 11th edition after a three-year hiatus.

Which venues? The Bunkhouse, Beauty Bar and Backstage Bar & Billiards are the anchors, with additional shows at 11th Street Records (all-ages), Fremont Country Club (18-and-over) and Inspire Theater. Oh, and there’s a comedy showcase at the El Cortez.

But aren't some of those places pretty far apart? We figured someone would ask, so we went down and measured—it took us just nine minutes (and 951 steps) to get from the Bunkhouse at one end to Beauty Bar at the other.

What kinda music are we talking here? Touring and Vegas-based bands, playing rock, pop, folk, electronic and hip-hop, mainly—most of it with a left-of-center bent. Think indie, before the major labels glommed onto the word.

How much does it cost? $50 gets you into everything, all four nights, with most individual shows priced at $15.
