Flavor Flav’s House of Flavor | March 15, 2012 | 7:34 P.M.

To get this shot of rapper and reality-show star Flavor Flav, I had to contend with two challenges: the heat of a working fry kitchen and grease. I was crammed into a 10x10 kitchen space with at least a dozen other photographers, videographers, well-wishers and hangers-on, all vying for the attention of Flavor Flav on the day he opened Flavor Flav’s House of Flavor. As Flavor was busy throwing breaded raw chicken into a scalding fryer, I was crammed up next to a wall, trying to keep my cameras away from the open burners and not get in the way of the prep cooks trying to get their work done. When this photo was taken, Flavor had just tasted the chicken he would serve to his opening night customers. Right before this shot, Flavor almost scalded himself by accidentally dropping a chicken breast into the bubbling oil. At the end of the evening, I cleaned a lot of grease off my camera lens.
