As We See It

In brief: Justin Bieber causes some trouble in Las Vegas and more

Limited Appeal

Apparently, at least one state prison inmate has taken what legal rights he still has a bit too far. Last week, the State Supreme Court told Michael Steve Cox he might lose his ability to file appeals if he keeps filing lawsuits—complaining about things like meatless meals and the smell of paint fumes—without paying required fees. While we applaud the move to prevent waste, there are plenty of inmates with justifiable grounds for lawsuits. Hopefully this decision doesn’t color any future attempts to right injustices in the penal system. —Ken Miller

Taking a dive

Justin Bieber can’t seem to go anywhere these days without making a few enemies. In this case, it’s Indoor Skydiving in Las Vegas, which placed Bieber on its “no fly” list after he and six other people got there late on June 16 and left without paying a $1,600 tab or Instagramming about the experience (the two options given him as payment by the staff). Oh, and apparently his group left the bathroom dirty to boot. Not cool, Biebs. —KM

Welcome to the interwebs, SLS

We’re more than a year away from the prospective opening date of the SLS Hotel & Casino at the former home of the Sahara, but the new resort from sbe is already making a name for itself online with a schmancy new blog. While most of the posts are links to articles elsewhere or breezy briefs on other company properties, the gem of the site is the construction webcam, with live and time-lapse views of the work being done to turn a former Vegas landmark into a new one. —Sarah Feldberg
