Actress, recording star and socialite Paris Hilton returns to Las Vegas on Monday to start filming Season 2 of MTV’s Paris Hilton’s My New BFF reality show. She will be headquartered at the Hard Rock Hotel for the shooting, which is where she celebrated her 28th birthday a week ago (click HERE for our exclusive coverage).
This week, she has been on an R&R vacation in the South Pacific with new boyfriend Doug Reinhardt, baseball player and The Hills star, getting energized for the film schedule here. The Hard Rock battled another Vegas resort to win the location rights -- and threw in a private jet for Paris’ round-trip flights back and forth from L.A. -- to sweeten and seal the deal!
*Pop singer Katy Perry recruited Rio headliner magicians Penn & Teller for her “Waking Up in Vegas” video she has been shooting the past three days at George Maloof’s Palms. Her video cameras also recorded his brothers Gavin and Joe Maloof welcoming her to the casino when she arrived by limo in the valet parking area!
*The Double Down Saloon, with its famed Frankie’s Tiki Lounge, is one of those hidden jewels of a success story here in Vegas. It began here in 1992, yet never made big-name star status because of its off-Strip location. But for owner P Moss, it enabled him to open another location of the “Hippest Place on Earth” in New York. He’s just celebrated the third anniversary of the Big Apple branch, and among the rockers from Vegas who showed up there in support were Dick Vermin, Rob Ruckus and Louie “The Letch” Thomas. They even brought Sin City’s own Bargain DJ Collective with Rex Dart to entertain the crowd. Guests were on their toes with topless go-go dancers, a chainsaw juggler and Insectavora the female fire-eater!
*Please remember to dig deeper daily into our Vegas DeLuxe Web site for national and international entertainment news, photo galleries, Video Vault and our Neon Nightlife section. That’s where colleague Melissa Arseniuk has the full details of Cirque du Soleil’s first-ever ticket price reduction for its Beatles Love musical at The Mirage. Melissa has the story of the big discounts for locals starting Sunday and running until May 31. Even the front-row-section prices have been shaved from the regular $150 down to $90!
*A Las Vegas federal judge refused to dismiss Poetry nightclub’s lawsuit claiming racial bias against Caesars Palace and the Simon Property Forum Shops. Poetry claimed discrimination against its African-American customers. U.S. District Court Judge James Mahan said he will hear the claims alleging the casino and the upscale mall unfairly blame the club for people misbehaving and shut off normal access to the after-hours club. Lawyers for Caesars and Forum Shops deny the bias claims.
*UFC head honcho Dana White has confirmed that our local Vegas nightclub regular Quinton “Rampage” Jackson won’t be fighting light-heavyweight champion Rashad Evans after all. Turns out that after beating Keith Jardine in UFC 96’s main event last Saturday, Rampage now requires surgery to repair a jaw injury. Additionally, medics who discovered torn ligaments in his jaw will perform surgery next week. Rampage also has to rest up because of a hyper-extended elbow. Instead, Lyoto Machida gets the title shot in UFC 98 against Rashad here in Vegas.
It’s been party time at sister nightclubs Jet in The Mirage and the Bank in the Bellagio. The sassy starlets from ABC Family Network’s drama series Greek let loose for two consecutive nights at the Bank. It literally was a sorority sister soiree for Aynsley Bubbico, Tiffany Dupont, Dilshad Vadsaria and Amber Stevens. Pro athletes also were partying at the Bank, including NBA star Antwan Walker, Julius Jones (Seattle Seahawks), Abdul Hodge (Cincinnati Bengals), Melvin Fowler (Buffalo Bills) and Pittsburgh Steelers champ Hines Ward. At separate tables there after dinner together in the neighboring Yellowtail Sushi restaurant were poker pro J.C. Tran and rocker Ryan Cabrera with pal John Vesley, Secondhand Serenade’s frontman. At the club’s sister Caramel bar, Flamingo headliner George Wallace relaxed on his night off. Meantime, over at Jet, American Idol alumni Ryan Starr (Season 1) and Amanda Avila (Season 4) had a girls night out. Amanda used to live here in Vegas and was one of the original Sirens singer-dancers at T.I.!

*I know it’s a week away, but I want you to jot down the date. Starting at noon March 21, you will be able to buy tickets for Crue Fest 2 at the new Joint in the Hard Rock Hotel on Aug. 1. It will be the first time that Motley Crue, led by our hometown hero Vince Neil, will perform their entire CD Dr. Feelgood from start to finish. It’s the album’s 20th anniversary and was the band’s first LP. We should know the names of all the other rock acts going out on tour for Crue Fest 2 next week. But first things first, here are the highlights of this weekend that we affectionately refer to around here as the ROYAL ROBIN RUNDOWN:

Friday the 13th stars Aaron Yoo and Johnathan Sadowski will host their Friday the 13th bash at Christian Audigier in Treasure Island. … It’s a dark day with Black Satin at Blush in the Wynn with a sexy lingerie fashion show. The lusty ladies who buy the lacy, barely there undergarments get free champagne all night long!
Saturday, March 14
*Kenny Loggins finishes his busy weekend in Las Vegas with a performance at Aliante’s Access showroom.

Amber starred in Celebrity Rehab’s Sober House and Dr. Drew and hopefully, while everybody else is partying, the blonde bombshell will stay clean!
Sunday, March 15

*The “Area 52” screening series of bizarre underground, cult and midnight movies organized by our CineVegas Film Festival concludes with the ’70s sexploitation flick Viva, which shows a liberated Little Red Riding Hood at play in the urban jungles of nudists, hippies, orgies and drugs. The Anna Biller-directed film screens at the Onyx Theater.
*To celebrate the day in history that Julius Caesar spent his final day as ruler of the Romans before his downfall, chef Nico Chessa has created an Ides of March Roman-themed menu at Giorgio in Mandalay Place. The masterful menu, at just $49 per person, features three courses with wines!
