Strip Scribbles: MGM gives $350,000 to The PEF at Terry Fator’s show

The Mirage headliner Terry Fator and MGM Resorts International last night honored The Public Education Foundation at a benefit performance of Terry Fator: Ventriloquism in Concert in Terry Fator Theater at The Mirage. The night began with a red carpet that included Fator, Frank Caliendo, Recycled Percussion, New York-New York spokesman Vinny, Frank Marino, Josh Strickland, Amy Davidson and Grandma Lee.

Phyllis A. James, executive vice president of special counsel, litigation/chief diversity officer of MGM Resorts International, and Judi Steele, president and chief professional officer of The PEF, also were in attendance. The Season 2 America’s Got Talent $1 million winner received a long and rousing standing ovation after the performance with his puppets that included impressions of Garth Brooks, Elvis Presley and Sonny & Cher,, along with appearances by Winston the Impersonating Turtle and Vicky the Cougar.

The Public Education Foundation Benefit

Fator thanked everyone for attending the show, with all proceeds going to The PEF, and James then presented a $350,000 check to Steele, who graciously accepted the donation and thanked Fator and MGM Resorts International for their incredible support, which totals more than $1 million over the years, she said. *A reminder that Disney’s The Lion King, bone marrow center DKMS,, Disney Theatrical Productions and Mandalay Bay are hosting a bone marrow drive at Mandalay Bay Theater tomorrow to help Shannon Tavarez, 11, and other leukemia patients. Diagnosed with acute leukemia in April, Shannon, who portrays Young Nala in Broadway’s The Lion King, is fighting for her life, and a bone marrow transplant might be her only chance at survival.

*PBR Rock Bar & Grill, a new restaurant, bar and music venue at The Miracle Mile Shops in Planet Hollywood, held the first day of a two-day job fair today at the Planet Hollywood Ballroom for bartenders, cocktail waitresses, food servers, bus/server assistants, food runners, service hosts, bar back/bar apprentices, security hosts, host/promoters, junior sous chefs, pastry cooks, line cooks, prep cooks and dishwashers. The job fair continues tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Applicants should bring their resumes and a photograph and be prepared for onsite interviews with PBR Rock Bar & Grill executive staff.

Ryan Phillippe wrapped up a Las Vegas weekend celebrating the birthday of his girlfriend Alexis Knapp at Lavo in the Palazzo last night. After dinner at the Italian hotspot, they took over a table on the dance floor in the upstairs boutique nightclub and toasted with champagne. The affectionate couple danced throughout the night. … Peepshow and Holly’s World star Holly Madison dined at the new Social House at MGM CityCenter’s Crystals. She and her group had a great time at the restaurant, and executive chef Joe Elevado stop by the table to introduce himself to Madison and her group, who sampled some of the restaurant’s most popular Pan-Asian dishes.
