In the know: OBA Lounge gets spinning at House of Blues

Normally the third floor of the House of Blues music hall at Mandalay Bay is just what you might imagine – a place to take in a show from a birds’ eye, hope-your-not-scared-of-heights view and enjoy live music away from the crush of the general admission crowds.

However, after the witching hour every Saturday night, part of the upper deck is keeping the party going with OBA Lounge, a DJ-fueled ultra lounge-like space that offers an alternative feel to the HOB’s other venues.

“It’s more like the clubby environment that we don’t normally have in the music hall,” explained HOB Talent Promotions Manager Stacie Schmidt.

Different DJs spin every Saturday starting at midnight in the intimate African-inspired space adorned with folk art. On February 28 locals DJ Alpyne and DJ L1 will preside over the turntables on the third floor, where the party doesn’t end until people are ready to head home – usually sometime between 4 and 6 a.m.

OBA is only about three weeks old, so for now, you need to be in the know to go. Or in other words: Check it out soon, before the tourists get word.
