After a long drought, Metallica to play Las Vegas

"How about we come back to Las Vegas every three months?" Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich asked during the band’s last local show in Las Vegas at the Thomas & Mack Center.

That was five years ago. Here’s to good intentions.

The foursome that helped define the metal genre hasn’t been skipping Vegas to spite us. The World Magnetic Tour, which launched this past October in support of Grammy-winning album Death Magnetic, is the band’s first full tour of North America since their last stop in our fair city. On December 5 Metallica will be back on Vegas soil for a show at Mandalay Bay.

While December may feel eons away, especially after a five-year Metallica drought, tickets for the band’s upcoming show go on sale next Saturday, April 4.

Ulrich and Co. may not have followed through on his suggestion to make Vegas a regular pit stop, but with a new platinum-selling album to their name, the boys in black are coming back to town, and the resident performer at the new Joint hasn’t been announced yet…
