Porn star Aurora Snow is attending the AVN Adult Entertainment Expo for her eighth year and agreed to report for the Weekly on what AVN is like for an industry insider. Here are her thoughts:
Today we had an audio orgasm contest.
I’m signing for a booth called FreeAudioXXX.com, and we were trying to get a lot of girls at the show interested in coming into our soundproof booth and participating in an orgasm contest. Not just porn girls; we wanted civilian girls. They have the opportunity to win $1,000.
We had a lot of different responses. There were some girls who were like, “I’m going to go practice tonight, and I’ll come back tomorrow.” And others went, “Oh my God, I can’t do that,” even though nobody else could hear them, and asked if they could call it in, because they would feel more comfortable in the privacy of their own room.
Some women really went for it.
One thing that I noticed was that there seemed to be an older crowd this time around, and I signed a lot of autographs for couples.
It was really nice to see older men and older couples, men and women who have been together for how many years, coming up together and getting autographs.
There was this guy named Joe - Joe and his wife - and they were really, really sweet. They walk around with 8-by-10s, magazines and some of their favorite DVDs or videos that they collect and look for their favorite porn stars. They also have a porn star record audio greetings for their son, Bruce. Really awesome people.
This is my eighth year at AVN.
I see a lot of older faces, people that I’ve seen every year, but there are new ones, too.
Walking from my booth to, say, the bathroom is difficult. I have a hard time saying “no.” When people ask me for a picture, I’ll always stop every so many feet to turn around and please my fans, because that’s what I’m here to do.
I was supposed to stop signing at 5 p.m. and I couldn’t. I had to keep going till 6.
But I love it. I love every moment of it. It’s being the center of attention all day and getting paid for it.
That’s one of the reasons I enjoy doing porn. I love getting to explore my sexuality and get paid for it.
For me, AVN is a huge work trip. When I’m done signing autographs in the evenings, I go to parties, but they’re work parties. I network and socialize, meet company owners, even people I might work with for my Web site. I plan to shoot for my Web site while I’m out here as well.
My photographers are coming back to my hotel room, and we’re going to take very naughty pictures. They also walk around and follow me out on the floor and update everything on my Web site.
But it’s not all work. There was a very interesting toy at the convention today - a Kegel exerciser. It’s like the hand grip you would squeeze to make your grip stronger, but smaller, and it’s for Kegel exercises. I’d never heard of it or seen it, so I was given a free one today.
I’m going to try it out. After all, I have to give them feedback.
