Your guide to Labor Day weekend

Labor Day and Memorial Day weekends are almost on par with New Year's Eve as some of the best party weekends in Las Vegas. Celebrate this Labor Day in style at one of the many parties and club events on and off the Strip. There are several comedians in town to get your mind off of work, amazing musical performances and celebrities a-plenty at the clubs. Where else can you see Bob Dylan, Chris Rock, DJ AM and the Sugarhill Gang all in one weekend? If you need some suggestions on what to see and where to be seen, check out these events to jumpstart your holiday weekend plans.

Thursday August 28th:

John Huntington's One Night Stand with Mickey Avalon @ VooDoo Lounge: John Huntington's One Night Stand will feature glam hip-hop artist Mickey Avalon. Avalon is known for blending dark and humorous lyrics with heavy beats. His hit "Jane Fonda" made listeners both chuckle and move their feet. The show is free for locals so come get your Labor Day Weekend started off right!

Hawthorne Heights @ VooDoo Beach: The Dayton, OH pop-punk group Hawthorne Heights is riding high on the success of their third studio album, Fragile Future and their recent appearance at the Amplify!! Acoustic Strip with Love Pentagon @ House of Blues: Las Vegas Weekly presents Acoustic Strip at the House of Blues. The LA Comedy Club's One-Year Anniversary Weekend: The LA Comedy Club's One-Year Anniversary Weekend will include performances by Tanya Lee Davis, among others. The little lady packs quite the comedic punch so be prepared to laugh.

Friday August 29th:

Roger Sanchez @ Wet Republic: Head to MGM's ultrapool, Wet Republic, to spend the day partying by the pool while you enjoy the sounds of DJ Roger Sanchez. The NY DJ will keep the house music pulsing all day long as you groove to the beats poolside.

DJ Skribble @ Ditch Fridays: Get your Labor Day Weekend started off right with some fun under the sun at Ditch Fridays as DJ Skribble hits the decks. DJ Skribble will be spinning the best in club, hip-hop and house music poolside at the Palms. Check out DJ Skribble in our Local DJ Guide.

3 Doors Down @ Mandalay Bay: 3 Doors Down has achieved major mainstream success with songs like "Kryptonite" and "Here Without You." Opening will be Hinder and Staind.

Ramon Ayala @ the House Of Blues: Ramon Ayala, Mexican accordionist extraordinaire, has defined much of modern norteño music with his distinctive accordion playing and lyrics. Sueno Norteno will open the show.

G. Love and Special Sauce @ The Joint: G. Love and Special Sauce will perform their laid-back, sloppy blues for the crowd at The Joint. Special guests The John Butler Trio and Tristan Prettyman will open.

Summer Bikini Beach Bash @ the Crown and Anchor on Tropicana: Check out the scene at the Crownand Anchor on Tropicana and enjoy their Summer Bikini Beach Bash. Beach attire is encouraged and they will be giving away lots of prizes including a Foster's mountain bike.

Tyga @ Jet: Rapper Tyga will be performing live at Jet Nightclub at the Mirage. He'll sure to be performing hits off his newest album, No Introduction. The straight outta Compton rapper will have the crowd on its feet.

DJ Riz vs. DJ Siz @ LAX: Head to LAX to see DJ Riz square off against DJ Siz in a DJ battle. Two of the Crooklyn Clan's finest will battle it out for bragging rights. The show will also feature local DJ Finesse. Check out DJ Finesse in our Local DJ Guide.

DJ AM @ Pure: DJ AM brings his world renowned talents to Pure Nightclub to kick off a wild weekend. Club goers won't be able to get enough of the mix-master's famed mash ups as he spins a spellbinding set that will have the crowd dancing all night long.

Richard Cheese and Lounge Against The Machine @ AJ's Steakhouse: Richard Cheese and Lounge Against the Machine are bringing their swanky lounge music style to AJ's Steakhouse this summer, playing popular rap, rock, metal and pop songs. Members include Richard Cheese (vocals), Gordie "Brie" (double bass), Buddy "Gouda" and Frank "Feta" (drums) and Bobby "Ricotta" (piano and keyboards).

DJ Jazzy Jeff at Music is the Currency @ Rain: After you ditch work for Ditch Fridays, dry off from the pool and head inside to Rain where DJ Jazzy Jeff will be performing live at Music is the Currency. Will Smith's former sidekick on The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, DJ Jazzy Jeff has cemented his place in hip-hop history with his own recordings and as a producer for popular rappers and soul artists.

KISS @ the Pearl: Veteran rockers KISS are still rockin' and rollin' all night, and fortunately for Vegas, making a pit stop at the Pearl. Don't miss your chance to come see this legendary band live as they celebrate 35 years of rockin' the world.

The cast of I Love Money hosts @ Hawaiian Tropic Zone: The cast of I Love Money will be hosting the evening at Hawaiian Tropic Zone. Come on down and join 12 Pack, Megan and Heat as they dance the night away at the Planet Hollywood hot spot.

Roger Sanchez @ Tabu: DJ Roger Sanchez will be spinning all day poolside at Wet Republic before he takes the show inside to Tabu. The NY DJ will keep the house music pulsing to keep you dancing all night long.

Ashley Paige Swimwear party @ Blush: Enjoy an evening with Ashley Paige featuring her one-of-a-kind swimwear. Ladies will enjoy a champagne open bar from 11 p.m. until midnight and local ladies are admitted free.

Chris Rock @ The Colosseum: Comedic heavyweight Chris Rock is bringing his critically acclaimed "No Apologies" tour to The Colosseum at Caesars Palace. The funnyman has made a name for himself in the world of stand up comedy and films like Dogma, his TV show Everybody Hates Chris as well as a stint on Saturday Night Live.

Wild On casting party @ Jet with Alison Waite: The E! TV show takes you to parties all across the world but they're coming to Vegas to find cast members for the new season. Playboymodel Alison Waite will be on hand to host the casting session.

DJ Boris @ Tabu Afterhours: Russian born DJ Boris mixes it up at Tabu Afterhours for a marathon set. The internationally known DJ spins regularly in NYC at Crobar but this weekend he brings his highly acclaimed mixes to Tabu for a party that will last into the wee hours of the morning.

Saturday August 30th:

The Crystal Method @ Wet Republic: The Crystal Method helps you celebrate Labor Day Weekend as you lounge by the pool at Wet Republic. The pioneers of the big beat electronic dance genre will bring the party to Vegas.

Bill Cosby @ Star of the Desert Arena: The star of the The Cosby Show and Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids got his start in stand up comedy. The TV star opened doors for other black actors as he broke through racial barriers. He will be performing live at the Star of the Desert Arena in Primm.

Roger Clyne and The Peacemakers @ The House of Blues: Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers is a searing rock and roll foursome nursed by the desert air of their Arizona home base. Enjoy their live performance at the House of Blues.

The LA Comedy Club's One-Year Anniversary Weekend: Tanya Lee Davis performs for a second night.

Lewis Black @ The Mirage: Lewis Black will be performing live at the Danny Gans Theater at The Mirage. The Grammy Award-winning stand-up comedian hosts Comedy Central's The Root of All Evil and makes regular appearances on The Daily Show. Now he brings his show on the road to Las Vegas.

Katy Perry at Rok Vegas: Rok Vegas @ New York-New York will open its doors Labor Day weekend and will host a special performance by hot new pop rock sensation Katy Perry. Perry currently leads the Billboard's "Hot 100" chart at No. 1 for the seventh consecutive week with her sultry single, "I Kissed a Girl." Who knows who you'll end up kissing? You might like it!

Richard Cheese and Lounge Against The Machine @ AJ's Steakhouse: Richard Cheese and Lounge Against the Machine return to AJ's Steakhouse at the Hard Rock for a second night of lounge style covers.

David Spade @ Planet Hollywood: One of America's most popular smart alecks, David Spade has been perfecting his sarcastic quips and one-liners since his time as a cast member on Saturday Night Live and now he brings his stand up to the Planet Hollywood stage.

Strippers and Hustlers Ball @ the Orleans: Perry Mann's exotic, erotic 2 day affair will take place at the Orleans and will feature Gilby Clarke, Scooter and Lavelle, Heather Chadwell and many other stars. Plus there will be hundreds of strippers competing for $20,000 in cash and prizes. Union members will receive a $10 bill in honor of Labor Day. Be sure to dress the part.

Paul Oakenfold starts his residency @ Rain: After traveling around the world for the past decade, jet-setter Paul Oakenfold has finally found a home at Rain nightclub in the Palms. You're invited to the grand opening of his one and only American residency, Perfecto Vegas.

Air Raid Anthem @ Jillian's: Air Raid Anthem, Hello Astro, Opium Alibi, Theory of Flight and Anew Betrayal will perform live at Jillian's. Chris and Tony Rock afterparty @ Jet: After seeing Chris Rock perform live at The Colosseum, head on over to Jet at the Mirage for the official afterparty. Chris' younger brother, Tony, is also a stand up comedian and will be at Jet to celebrate alongside his big brother.

Ice Cube @ The House of Blues: Known to be one of the most important figures in rap history, Ice Cube began his career with the Notorious West Coast Gangsta Rap Group N.W.A two decades ago. He will showcase his solo skills at the late show at the House of Blues.

DJ Riz @ Christian Audigier: DJ Riz's impact on the hip-hop and DJ sound can be heard in every record in every club around the globe. He's covered the spectrum of the hip-hop world, from artist DJ and club DJ to remixer and original producer.

Baby Bash with DJ EMAN and DJ Ikon @ VooDoo Lounge: Baby Bash performs live at the VooDoo Lounge with DJ EMAN and DJ Ikon. Baby Bash has rapped with T Pain and Ikon and now he will perform his own tunes for the crowd on top of the VooDoo Lounge.

Sunday August 31st:

Monday September 1:

Scooter and Lavelle at Relax @ Hard Rock Pool: Scooter and Lavelle will help you recover from your weekend at the Relax pool party on Labor Day at the Hard Rock Pool. The San Diego duo brings some Cali-style house and electronica to the pool.

Deadmau5 and Kaskade @ Wet Republic: The "Canadian whizkid" Deadmau5 will be spinning electronica live poolside at Wet Republic along with Kaskade will be on hand to provide the San Francisco style house music.

Judas Priest @ the Pearl: The English heavy metal act Judas Priest will bring their music stateside for a concert at the Pearl. The band many call the "Metal Gods" have sold over 35 million albums worldwide.

Bob Dylan @ The Joint: Singer, songwriter, author, musician and poet - Bob Dylan has been a major figure in popular music and American culture for five decades, releasing around fifty albums since 1962. Come taste a piece of Americana.
