Once again, the stars didn’t wait until the weekend to come out and play and, surprise surprise, the star-studded partying continued through the weekend – this is Las Vegas, after all.
Mel Gibson was in town, along with his son Tommy and two friends, and spent Thursday afternoon taking in Bodies … The Exhibition at Luxor.
The Academy Award-winning actor and director received a private, 90-minute tour of the exhibit and was said to have playfully quizzed his son as they toured through the displays.
Gibson also caught Terry Fator and His Cast of Thousands at the Mirage later that night and went backstage to meet Fator after the show.
Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler was also spotted in Las Vegas on Thursday, as he had lunch over at Palms Place. (He was on Palms property the night before, as well, and had dinner with friends at Little Buddha.)
The iconic rocker, who was in town for the band’s Saturday night show at the MGM Grand, had breakfast for lunch at Simon and ordered the protein breakfast along with some sea urchin sushi for his midday meal.
Later that night, Tyler, along with daughter Chelsea Tyler and famed record producer/songwriter Mark Hudson, took in the 7 p.m. performance of Love at the Mirage.
Even though it was the musician’s second time seeing The Beatles-themed and very musical show, he still went backstage afterward to meet the cast and take a few pictures.
Former Destiny’s Child songstress-turned-soloist Kelly Rowland kicked off the weekend a little early, too, at Tao’s popular Worship Thursdays party.
After an impressive dinner of sushi rolls, bass satays, squab lettuce wraps, and chicken and pork fried rice, the Bravo TV star headed upstairs to the moat area of the nightclub, where she treated the crown to a performance of the single she and David Guetta recently released, “When Love Takes Over.”
The big news of the night, however, went down at The Joint as late 90s pop-punk sensations Blink 182 reunited for the first of two shows at the Hard Rock Hotel.
Thursday’s show was the first time Travis Barker, Tom DeLonge and Mark Hoppus appeared onstage together for an official Blink 182 concert in more than five years.
They did it again the following, swapping openers Motion City Soundtrack for Chester French.
Chester French actually gave two shows on Friday, first with an afternoon acoustic set at Zia Records on Sahara Ave, then a full-length opening set at The Joint later that night.
Adam Goldstein, aka Rain resident DJ, DJ AM, hung out backstage with the Blink boys while another well-known Palms-connected personality, Gavin Maloof, took in the show from one of the venue’s private skyboxes.
Pro skateboarder and reality star Rob Dyrdek also watched the performance, along with a 40-person entourage.
He filmed an episode of his reality show, Fantasy Factory, at The Joint earlier that evening.
Elsewhere at the Hard Rock, Sum 41 guitarist Deryck Whibley partied without his pop-punk princess bride, Avril Lavigne, in the VIP area of Wasted Space.
CSI actor Hill Harper also hit the club that night after having dinner at Rare 120.
Whibley didn’t stick around for long, though, and was later spotted at the Palms, where he and his friends continued their boys’ weekend. Dyrdek also made the trip to West Flamingo Road, but by the time he and his party made it to Rain, his once massive entourage was significantly reduced, to (just) 14.
The mass exodus from the Hard Rock to the Palms was party due to Barker, who headed that way to put in some musical overtime alongside DJ AM after his show.
The members of Chester French, however, had a different idea and instead headed to the Palazzo for a post-show party at Lavo.
The band enjoyed a massive, three-hour-long Italian feast before finally retiring to the upper-level nightclub, where the Ciroc vodka and Dom Perignon Rose flowed freely.
Also having dinner at Lavo on Friday was Portland Trail Blazer Greg Oden. The meal proved to be just the appetizer for his evening, however, as he shifted things into high gear at the nightclub upstairs once he finished his dinner.
Retired NBA player and current TNT basketball analyst Kenny Smith joined him at the club, where Patron and Dom Perignon proved to be popular.
Also at the Palazzo nightspot that night, Privileged actress Ashely Newborough danced and otherwise lived up the good life, Grey Goose and cranberry in hand, with a friend.
Mena Suvari and her fiancé, Simone Sestito, shared a romantic meal at Lavo on Friday and another intimate dinner followed by cocktails in the club next door, at Tao, on Saturday night.
On Thursday, however, the actress had dinner at N9NE Steakhouse, as did model/actress Shanna Moakler and legendary rock ‘n’ roll guitarist Slash.
The Guns N’ Roses guitarist was in town celebrating his 44th birthday and the prequel to the bigger (possibly better?) Friday night feast and fete featured an impressive array of food: crispy wontons, a petit filet, sides of green beans and skinny fries, and range of platter of desserts. Afterward, the party moved over to Ghostbar, where they toasted the rocker’s birthday with champagne while taking in the impressive view of the Strip.
Slash’s birthday partying continued on Friday, too, as fellow musicians joined him for another steak-heavy dinner – this time at Stack – followed by drinks at Rhumbar.
Among those spotted at the Mirage that night: Aeorsmith guitaristJoe Perry, and drummer, Joey Kramer; former Guns N’ Roses drummers Steven Adler and Matt Sorum (who currently drums behind Slash in Velvet Revolver); Aerosmith backing guitarist Brad Whitford; and Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top.
Gibbons was spotted at Frankie’s Tiki Room earlier that day, and stopped by the island-themed cocktail oasis on West Charleston Avenue on Thursday, too.
The Counting Crows were in town, too, but when they took to the stage, they were at Red Rock Resort.
Back on the Strip, NFL free agent Brian Simmons was seen enjoying a few rounds of Patron on ice at Tao with some friends and family.
Meanwhile, long-legged and lovely former Dancing with the Stars contestant Stacy Keibler was at MGM Grand, where she hosted a festive Friday night at Tabu.
The following day, she recovered from her late night with an afternoon by the pool at Wet Republic.
While several stars shined in big, celebrity fashion, David Duchovny and Tea Leoni enjoyed a low-key Friday night in Las Vegas. The couple followed in Stephen Tyler’s footsteps from the night before and took in the 7 p.m. performance of Love, followed by a backstage tour.
Their kids, Madelaine West and Kyd Miller, joined them for the show and snacked on popcorn throughout the performance.
Meanwhile, UFC president Dana White had a wine and champagne-laced dinner at N9NE Steakhouse with eight others, Recently-inducted UFC Hall of Famer Chuck Lidell was also in the steakhouse’s dining room on Friday, and, like White, also ordered the petite filet for his main course.
Yet when the fighter tore into his steak, it wasn’t from a seat at White’s table: Lidell and his two dining companions were seated at another table and drank Fiji water instead of bubbly.
The champion fighter and his friends did indulge themselves, though, and followed their meal with some chocolate banana pie.
Atlanta Hawks point guard Mike Bibby also ate at N9NE that night, stating with rock shrimp then finishing with a large filet and lobster mashed potatoes.
When chef Barry Dakake heard that some of the 15 people in Bibby’s party were celebrating birthdays, he sent out a sweet spread featuring s’mores, crème brulee and blueberry almond cake, much to the table’s enjoyment.
Also at the Palms on Friday was former NFL player Jamie Sharper, who partied at Rain with eight friends.
The star sightings continued on Saturday as former reality TV contestant Melissa Rycroft hosted an afternoon pool party at Palazzo.
The former Dancing with the Stars and Bachelor contestant’s hot hubby, Ty Strickland joined her at Azure.
Deryck Whibley and his bachelor party-hearty friends resurfaced that afternoon by yet another well-attended adults-only pool, Tao Beach.
The group of guys followed up their fun in the scorching hot sun with dinner and some chardonnay in the popular restaurant a few stories below. Sea bass, crispy shrimp and tuna sashimi were among the items sent to the punk rocker’s table that night before the group adjourned to the nightclub next door, at Lavo.
Charlotte Bobcat Juwan Howard was also in town this weekend, and was spotted at Society Café at the Encore on Saturday afternoon as he had lunch with a few, surely adoring female friends.
Meanwhile, Peepshow star and former Playboy model Holly Madison visited what she referred to as “French Disneyland,” and had lunch with another former Playboy personality-turned-Las-Vegas-resident, Laura Croft. The picture-perfect pair lunched at Mon Ami Gabi at Paris.
Later that night, UFC fighter Randy Couture grabbed a well-appointed Vegas meal of his own, over at Planet Hollywood. The ex-champion brawler was seen in one of Strip House’s cozy-but-not-quite-star-watcher-proof corner booths as he enjoyed dinner and a bottle of wine.
While Couture was having a quiet dinner, things heated up at the Hard Rock as hip-hop artist Bishop Lamont and music producer Damizza made an unexpected appearance at Body English.
Meanwhile, hip-hopper DMX was at Pure at Caesars Palace while Snoop Dogg eventually performed – he was two hours late – for the lingerie-clad crowd at the Kandy Vegas party at the Palms.
No stranger to the Las Vegas Valley, the Doggfather played Primm just two weeks ago, on July 10. This time, however, he brought an up-and-coming songstress – one who wants to be known simply as Jinae – as his one-song opening act.
Three of the more well-known partiers taking in the sweet scene by the Palms pool were Portland Trail Blazer Greg Oden, retired NFL footballer Jamie Sharper, and St. Louis Rams running back Steven Jackson, an Eldorado High grad.
After Snoop finished his performance at around 2 a.m., Oden moved his party’s party upstairs, to Moon, where he and his five friend continues their Saturday night in true Las Vegas fashion.
Also at the Kandy Vegas Lingerie Ball was the well-bronzed cast of Sunset Tan: Ania Migdal, Devin Haman, Janelle Perry, Jeff Bozz, Jenae Alt, Molly Shea, and Nick D’Anna. Miss Sunset Tan 2008, Bambi Lashell, Dr. 90210 doc Gary Motykie, comedian and game show host Josh Nasar were also there.
Another super-sexy, yet considerably shorter and more subdued, show went down at Luxor that night, as Grammy Award-winning crooner Robin Thicke headlined the resort’s Singles in Sin City Saturday night celebration.
The early evening poolside party also featured Elevator Fight.
Sunday saw Madison continue with what seems to be a Sunday tradition for her: A trip to Palms Place brunch at Simon. Slash also brunched at the popular and very easy-on-the-eyes eatery that afternoon.
And finally, DMX closed down the weekend at the Hard Rock, where he Oden joined the bikini and boardshort-clad crowd at Rehab.
