Not surprisingly, former Wazuzu chef, Iron Chef competitor and Weekly foodie friend Jet Tila has kept busy since sneaking back home to LA last year. He recently opened the Charleston in Santa Monica, a cocktail bar with upscale pub grub, and he’ll be back on the Food Network as a judge on Chopped this fall.
The Details
- LuckyRice Night Market
- June 23, 7-11 p.m., $88-$125.
- Cosmopolitan's Boulevard pool, tickets at cosmopolitanlasvegas.com
Tila is back in Las Vegas this weekend for the LuckyRice Night Market, an Asian street food festival at Cosmopolitan’s Boulevard Pool. Other LuckyRice visiting chefs include Top Chef Texas winner Paul Qui, Susur Lee, and LA’s Sang Yoon and Jordan Kahn.
Tila will serve up two Charleston dishes: crispy pork belly buns and short rib tacos with Brussels sprouts and Korean salsa. “The buns are like bao, only fried like a doughnut, so they’re crunchy and sweet on the outside. They’re killer,” he says. “I really miss my Vegas family and hope to see everybody there.”
