I’ve been a fan of the quietly delicious Charcoal Room at Santa Fe Station for a while now. Specifically, I appreciate the beef tenderloin stuffed portobello mushrooms ($8) wrapped in melting Swiss cheese, which, when paired with a crisp chopped salad ($6), is a light and happy steakhouse meal. But now there’s a new, incredibly cheap reason for the rest of you to enjoy this place: the $24 three-course dinner special.

Start with a Caesar or garden salad or cup of soup, then choose from prime rib, top sirloin, roasted chicken or grilled salmon as your entrée (which comes with vegetables), and save room for dessert. It’s hard to find a good steak by itself for this price, let alone all the extras. Plus, chef Johannes Bernau, formerly of the experimental é restaurant at Jaleo, is making sure the Charcoal Room’s cuisine is as good as ever, if not better. You’re welcome.
