Quick Bites: Anima, Martha Stewart, Bar Zazu, Peter Luger Steak House and more Vegas food news

The legendary Peter Luger Steak House is coming to Las Vegas later this year, set to land at the former Rao’s space at Caesars Palace. It’s the first domestic expansion in more than 60 years for the Michelin-starred restaurant that first opened in 1887 and the first U.S. location outside of New York.

Long rumored and finally confirmed to open at Paris Las Vegas this spring, The Bedford by Martha Stewart will be the first-ever restaurant concept from the lifestyle icon, working in tandem with Marquee Brands. Seasonal dinner, weekend brunch and holiday menus are in the works, sourcing ingredients from local purveyors and Stewart’s favorites, and the 194-seat restaurant will be designed by Stewart, inspired by her country farmhouse. Anima has opened at the Gramercy in southwest Las Vegas. A collaboration between EDO Tapas chef and partner Oscar Amador and chef Francesco Di Caudo, the new restaurant is rooted in Spanish, Italian and Asian flavors and includes a raw bar and charcuterie station, a la carte options and tasting menus, and a beverage program led by sommelier and partner Joseph Mikulich and mixologist Joel Cockerill. Anima is open for dinner Thursday through Tuesday, with lunch service coming soon.

Il Toro e la Capra has opened at 6453 S. Decatur Blvd, an original Italian restaurant concept from the family behind Lindo Michoacan. Serving homemade pasta, fresh hand-made bread, a chicken cacciatore burrito and more, the new eatery is open daily for lunch and dinner from 10 a.m. until 11 p.m.

Bar Zazu has opened at the District at Resorts World Las Vegas. The new concept from the team behind Brezza offers a full-service dining experience featuring traditional Spanish and European-style tapas in a social-dining atmosphere with custom-designed interactive digital artwork. The restaurant is open for quick-service breakfast and lunch daily from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., and dinner nightly from 5 until 10 p.m.

Wynn Las Vegas has unveiled its continuing Master Classes for winter 2022, beginning with the Master Dumpling Class with chef Sandy Chi on January 20 at Wing Lei, followed by Showstopping Desserts at Home on January 21 with chef Michael Outlaw at Lakeside. Future events focus on chocolate, Champagne, margaritas, brunch, sushi and more and information is available and reservations can be made at wynnlasvegas.com.

Distill Rainbow will host a wine pairing dinner with Opolo Vineyards on January 20 at 7 p.m., featuring a curated six-course dinner. Dishes include seared scallops with butternut squash, herb-crusted rack of lamb with black cherry jus and lardons, and dark chocolate torte with macerated berries. Distill Centennial is celebrating its fifth anniversary by hosting its first-ever Hillbilly Ball on January 22, featuring live music, drink specials all night long and a costume contest. The event returns to sister tavern Remedy’s Conestoga on January 29.

The 22nd annual Lutefisk Dinner hosted by the Vegas Viking Lodge of the Sons of Norway will be held January 29 at 2 and 5 p.m. at the Boulder City Elks Lodge and tickets must be purchased by January 22. The cost is $25 for adults and $10 for children. For information, call 702-869-5775.

Trattoria by Chef Marc at the Ahern Hotel has launched a new weekend brunch available every Saturday and Sunday from 7 a.m. until 2 p.m. Chef Bruno Morabito is cooking up dishes including chicken and waffles, strawberry cheesecake pancakes, a half-pound burger and more. A four-course “brunch adventure” options is also available for $40 and bottomless mimosas and bellinis are part of the menu.

Mi Casa Grill Cantina at the Silverton is now open for brunch Saturdays and Sundays at 11 a.m., serving dishes such as horchata overnight oats, huevos ahogado, ancho chile-crusted ribeye and eggs and more.

The popular Deli Night dinner has returned to the Market Place Buffet at the JW Marriott Las Vegas Resort. The price is $25.99 or $20.99 with the Rampart Plus Card and the dinner is served Mondays from 4 until 8 p.m.

Available now through the end of February at Sickies Garage Burgers & Brews at Town Square, the Wyatt’s Warriors Chicken Sammich is a breaded and fried chicken breast tossed in Buffalo sauce and topped with pepper jack cheese, mac and cheese and spicy ranch. It’s available as a meal for $14.99 and $1 from each order will benefit the local JDRF chapter in honor of local  12-year-old Type 1 diabetes warrior Wyatt Moon and help the fight to find a cure.
