A look at where you’ll be eating in 2014

Your new restaurant checklist is gonna be a long one. Why? You’re already behind. You’ve got late-arriving 2013 eats to catch up on. On the Strip, there’s the slinky, wine-soaked Crush plus friendly Mexican food at MGM Grand neighbor Hecho en Vegas. Mario Batali’s festive B&B Burger & Beer just landed at Venetian, too. In the neighborhood, Desnudo Tacos has popped up next door to sister joint Naked City Pizza Shop. There’s a new Hot N Juicy Crawfish on the east side and another KoMex on the west side. Downtown, check out the German goodies at the Plaza’s Bier Garten and Downtown Grand’s fancy food court the Commissary.

Early 2014 should bring the Linq to the Strip, across from Caesars Palace, loaded with new eats: comfort food from the Bromberg brothers at Brooklyn Bowl; Mexican at Chayo; pizza at Flour & Barley; hot dogs at Haute Doggery; Asian foods at F.A.M.E.; sweets at Sprinkles Cupcakes; bar food at Yard House, Tilted Kilt and Off the Strip; and breakfast at Allo! Mon Coco.

Food Network star Guy Fieri will open his still-unnamed Quad spot in the spring, near where O’Sheas will be resurrected in 2014. BLT Steak also is set for a spring debut at Bally’s. Later in the year, the second Martorano’s will open at Paris and food TV queen Giada De Laurentiis will bring her very first restaurant to the casino formerly about-to-be Gansevoort. Pin-Up Pizza brings the biggest slice in the city to Planet Hollywood, and Hash House A Go Go expands at the Rio.

Contemporary Mediterranean fare arrives in Las Vegas with Cleo at SLS.

Bobby Flay’s Bobby’s Burger Palace is scheduled to arrive at Crystals early in the year while Morimoto is slated to replace Japonais at Mirage toward the end of 2014. Masaharu Morimoto will be a Strip newcomer, but Daniel Boulud will be making a return visit with DBGB Kitchen & Bar at Venetian. All that construction around Monte Carlo and New York-New York will soon yield Double Barrel Roadhouse, 800 Degrees pizza, Chicago izakaya Yusho from Charlie Trotter disciple Matthias Merges, another Sambalatte and, late in the year, our very own Shake Shack.

SLS is set to open in the fall at the old Sahara site, bringing potential culinary game-changer the Bazaar by José Andrés. The hip new casino’s restaurant roster also includes the acclaimed Umami Burger, contemporary Mediterranean fare at Cleo, Japanese eats at Katsuya, another 800 Degrees, and morning goodness from the Griddle Cafe. Stay hungry, my friends.
