Dining News & Notes: Metro’s dollar pizza party, Silver State beer arrives and more

Metro Pizza will host its Dollar Slice Night for Hunger benefitting Three Square on October 25 from 6-9 p.m. at its 1395 E. Tropicana Ave. store. Eight pizzas (cheese, pepperoni, 86th Street Square Sicilian, Roman-style margherita, Chicago thin, Sunspot, Milano, Mulberry Street and the seasonal special Pumpkin Spice Latte pizza) will be sold by the slice for $1, with all proceeds going to fight local hunger. Crafthaus Brewery launches Silver State beer on October 27 with complimentary brewery tours, a food truck and a social media photo contest at its Henderson headquarters from 2 p.m. until midnight. The blonde ale will be available year-round in 12-ounce six-pack cans and on draft.

The Red Rock Resort will host the Hallo-Wine Fest on October 28 from 5-8 p.m., with multiple wine-tasting stations set up across the property. Tickets cost $60 and can be purchased through Ticketmaster. Red Rock also hosts the third-annual Ribfest in partnership with the Nevada BBQ Association on November 4 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., a fundraising event for the Southern Nevada Boys & Girls Clubs that will include live bands, a pie-eating contest and more. The Venetian will once again host one of America’s most prestigious food competitions, the Team USA National Selection for the 2019 Bocuse d’Or, on November 9. The competition will take place at a Palazzo ballroom, with three teams allotted five hours and 35 minutes to prepare a meat platter and restaurant-style dish. Each entry will be scored on presentation and taste by a panel of judges including Thomas Keller and Daniel Boulud. A celebration will be held after the competition at Bouchon. Morels Steakhouse & Bistro at Palazzo will host a beer tasting on November 9 with Verdugo West Brewing Co.’s head brewer Chris Walowski, featuring unlimited tastings of its five core craft beers along with a barrel-aged sour and exclusive cask beer. All proceeds will benefit Las Vegas victims’ relief efforts. Tickets cost $30 in advance or $35 at the door and can be purchased by calling 702-607-6333.

Wolfgang Puck Bar & Grill at Downtown Summerlin brings back its Sommelier Smackdown event starting on November 14, where top somms from restaurants around Las Vegas will battle by pairing wines with a coursed menu by chef Spencer Rudow. The event kicks off at 6:30 p.m.. Tickets cost $65 and can be purchased by calling 702-202-6300.
