Everywhere else in the world, the holidays mean ugly sweaters and white-elephant gifts, but Vegas offers its eggnog spiked. I was pondering this Vegas quirk while walking through the glitz of the Venetian to attend the holiday party of Yoga Sanctuary, the studio I attend, inside Tao’s Opium Room, and also the kickoff of a partnership between the two. Yoga instructors took requests for poses in return for cash donations to Goodwill of Southern Nevada. Hmm, the wholesomeness of yoga and the decadence of a nightclub—it seemed a paradox. My head was about to explode when I was distracted by all the wine being passed around and the impressive spread of vegetarian food. But it turns out that Tao has offered yoga at Tao Beach in the past. And yoga does fit into the whole Asian theme … So, I think I’ll say cheers to yet another paradox debunked!
