Now that the porn stars have left town, it’s time for the punks to take over. The 11th annual Punk Rock Bowling Tournament hits Sam’s Town from January 15-18, with punks from around the world streaming in to try for a top prize of $2,400. Imagine how many safety pins and wallet chains that could buy.

Expect some awesome hair and sweet tattoos, but if you’re thinking about stargazing, remember: Musicians won’t be the only ones bowling; record-label and industry folks will make up many of the competing teams.

Afterparties are plentiful and packed with local and national acts. A January 16 kickoff party at El Premier (3015 Fremont St.) will feature The Casualties, The Dwarves, American Steel, Off With Their Heads and The Ignorant. Also that night: Blag Dahlia, Capt. Sean, The Fizzies, Zander and locals Betting on Tomorrow and The Tinglerz at Divebar (3035 E. Tropicana Ave.).

On January 17, trade your bowling shoes for torn-up Chucks and hit the House of Blues for an all-ages show with Pennywise (pictured), Circle Jerks and The Darlings (Pennywise also plays HOB January 18, with openers The Vandals and Pulley). Also on the 17th, the Bunkhouse gathers up Vegas outfits JFA, Guilty by Association, Pressure Point and Hang ’em High.

After the final day of bowling, El Premier will host a January 18 awards party, featuring Manic Hispanic, CH3, The Bodies and Tiltwheel. Also that night, The Tinglerz, The Real Shames, The Girlfriend Experience and The Helltown Harlots all play the Double Down, while The Darlings and Lydia Vance team up for a Carey Hart-hosted party at Wasted Space.
