It took six years and two Hollywood studios to produce Little Fockers, and rarely has so much effort been put forth to produce so little. A cast of distinguished, talented actors engages in embarrassing, grossly debasing behavior that may have enriched their bank accounts but most likely damaged their souls. The movie lacks even the most basic standards of plotting—characters and storylines appear and disappear at random, with actors like Laura Dern and Harvey Keitel merely drifting through the background. Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro are once again (after Meet the Parents and Meet the Fockers) at odds as a milquetoast nurse and his hard-nosed father-in-law, but they might as well be the Roadrunner and Wile E. Coyote for all the identifiable human behavior they bring to the roles. Bodily fluids, a Viagra-like drug and the word “Godfocker” are all alleged sources of comedy, but the biggest joke is on anyone who pays to see this monstrosity.
