Don’t break the seal … or else!

Drink all you can while it’s free!

When you gotta go, you gotta go ... just not right now. At least not if it’s 7 p.m. on a Friday night and you’re sitting at the bar at Daddy Mac’s on Green Valley Parkway.

While your bladder may not thank you for playing their special weekend drinking game, your wallet certainly will.

The premise is simple: Take a seat at the bar and enjoy a frothy mug of Daddy Mac’s exclusive lager — it’s similar in taste to Miller, who takes care of the brewing for them — on the house. Follow it up with as many as you can gulp down before some selfish patron ruins it for everyone by escaping to the bathroom to take a leak or escaping out the door to take leave. The first person to enter the bathroom or exit out the front door ends the free-flowing beer for the entire bar. Don’t let it be you. You won’t be winning any popularity contests afterward.

On the two occasions that the Weekly stopped by to check out the game first-hand, the beer indeed was free and refreshing, but the game lasted about 15 minutes only, hardly enough time to get a good Friday-night buzz going. The slightly older crowd at the “old Vegas” style bar and restaurant might have caused the drinking game to be a bit underappreciated and our financially conscious taste buds to go unsatisfied.

Luckily, there’s a simple solution to the problem: healthy competition! With the right crowd in Daddy Mac’s to discourage everyone else from breaking the seal, the drinks can be flowing a little lager — er, longer — into the night. We are in a recession after all, and there’s no buzzkill greater than having to break the bank to get a buzz.

When the game does come to an inevitable end, however, there’s still a consolation prize. Daddy Mac’s lager is only a buck even when you do have to pay full price. When you can’t drink for free, $1 beers are the next best things.
