I'm not a mushroom guy. I don't despise 'em, the way I do Brussels sprouts, okra and the word noggin (grr), but I pick around them in salads, etc. Still, the menu at Annie's Gourmet Italian refers to its stuffed-mushroom appetizer as "famous." Well, famous! I know, right?! You bet I tried 'em. Good thing, too. These fat 'shroom caps are filled with sweet Italian sausage, bread crumbs, secret spices and generations of family kitchen mojo; I was hooked by the second bite. A few days later, I took friends; they're hooked. Now, I don't know how famous these things really are; I'm sure I could find a rock-hauler in Scotland who's unaware of them. But you try some, tell your friends, and maybe we can fix that.
