I’m pregnant for some reason, when I realize I need to deliver this baby. My mom helps me deliver. I don’t feel any pain, just slight discomfort, and it is over quickly. I look at it, and it is lying on its side, not moving, on the floor, and I realize a few moments later that it was just barely alive, but then it dies. I’m crying uncontrollably and come out of the bathroom into my living room. There are a group of guys I know there. One of them asks if I am all right, but I just stand there crying. – Amelia 17

Lauri: Your dream suggests that in real life you are mourning something in your life that never really got going. Was there a relationship, a project, something that you were working on and trying to make happen but that came to an end too soon? It is significant that you come out of the bathroom into the living room. The bathroom suggests that you have cleansed yourself emotionally of the situation and are now ready to get back to living your daily life. The guys in your dream are most likely standing in for the male part of you, the part of you that can “man up” and handle the emotional pain that you apparently still feel. They are there to help in your dream because they are the strong part of you that can help you move through the loss you feel.

Amelia replies: This dream makes so much sense now. I’ve been in love with my best friend for five years, but he always thought I was too young and helpless. Just as he started to realize I could fend for myself, he also realized that he is seriously in love with his current girlfriend. I never even had the chance to prove myself to him. I went into depression, knowing that was it and I would never get my chance. I decided to move on and focus on me. Since then I’ve been feeling very powerful, in control, and wiser about myself.
