Put down that lager; it’s time to raise a glass to strong beer. Aces & Ales hosts the 2nd Annual Strong Beer Festival August 12-14, serving up more than 80 specialty brews like Big Dog’s El Perro Diablo, Dogfish Head’s Bitches Brew and plenty of other beers that likely have something to do with dogs and devils. The $15 entry fee gets you a commemorative glass and your first taste free, with tastes running $4 after. Those who don’t want the glassware can skip the fee, and all beers will be available for $8.

Plenty of Vegas resident DJs have found their big break as someone’s protege. Now, it’s your turn. Lavo is holding a contest to find its top fan, and the winner will get an all-expenses-paid trip to Vegas for two and a lesson with DJ Vice. To enter, head to facebook.com/lavo and start racking up fan points. The winner will be selected at random from the top 10 fans on August 31. Just think, locals, if Lavo doesn’t have to pay for your flight, maybe they’ll throw in a date with one of the go-gos.

Fans of Down & Derby, start greasing up your skates. Roller parties are making a Vegas comeback, this time with an old-school edge. Starting August 18, Crown Nightclub will host the weekly Roller Boogie party, complete with ’80s soundtrack, complimentary industry admission, $10 skate rentals and $10 cover. Busting sweet skate moves to impress the honeys? Absolutely free.

Duck, duck, sauce! DJ duo A-Trak and Armand van Helden brought their rare live performance to Surrender Friday night ... along with a really big duck ... wearing a gold track jacket. The pair, known collectively as Duck Sauce, played hit “Barbra Streisand” and single “Big Bad Wolf,” along with tracks off their upcoming album, for a happy, disco-ish set at the Encore night spot.
