Marquee’s Boom Box Room at the newly opened Cosmopolitan was the place to be NYE weekend if you wanted to rub elbows with A-listers and score some surprise free booze. Sean “Diddy” Combs ordered a bottle of his Ciroc vodka for every table in the room while requesting his new single “Ass on the Floor.” Now that’s partying like a Ciroc star.

For Kanye West, the night was about impromptu performances—something he knows well. The rapper took the stage at the grand-opening concert with Jay-Z and Coldplay (John Mayer was feeling spontaneous, unexpectedly taking the stage, too) and later performed “Monster,” “What’s My Name” (with Jay-Z and Rihanna) and “Runaway” in the aforementioned Boom Box Room.

Even Kim Kardashian took a turn on the mic this weekend. The reality TV star debuted an as-yet-untitled new single after midnight on NYE while hosting at Tao. She reportedly sang along as partygoers danced to the ditty with director Hype Williams on-site to shoot scenes for Kardashian’s music video. Congrats, Kim, your tune can join socialite songs like Paris Hilton’s guilty pleasure “Stars Are Blind” and whatever Heidi Montag warbled on Superficial.

XS didn’t need a celebrity host to make headlines on NYE. It had Armand de Brignac’s “Midas” 30L, the largest champagne bottle in the world, weighing in at 80 pounds and equivalent to 40 regular-size bottles of bubbly. “Midas” had the golden touch, selling for $100,000 to a high roller who asked to remain anonymous.
