Dreaming of Vegas-chella

Image

Cold War Kids played Beauty Bar on Tuesday, and they’re far from the only act on the Coachella festival poster with Las Vegas on the tour schedule. Arcade Fire, The Strokes, Brandon Flowers, Nas & Damian Marley, Robyn, Mumford & Sons, Cee Lo, Flogging Molly, Gogol Bordello, Scissor Sisters, Jenny and Johnny, and Wiz Khalifa are all headed to town in the coming weeks. Still, we couldn’t help wish-listing a few more spillovers …

PJ HARVEY She’s got a dynamite new album and three days off between San Francisco and Coachella. Is Vegas finally cool enough to get her attention? Nah.

THE CHEMICAL BROTHERS Tom Rowlands and Ed Simons played the Joint in ’97 and haven’t been seen here since. Considering the microscopic crowd that greeted Underworld in 2009, can we blame ’em?

TITUS ANDRONICUS More Pitchfork darlings find their way to Vegas every day, but there are still holdouts. These guys were born to headline Neon Reverb.

SUEDE Wondering if the reunited Brits still have it? Type “Animal Nitrate” and “2010” in at YouTube for the answer.

LIGHTNING BOLT These noise-rockers don’t so much perform as batter their fans with sound—setting up amid their crowd. This needs to happen here.
