Stone Brewing Company brought the term “beer snob” to a whole new level in 1997, the year they released their Arrogant Bastard Ale. If the name doesn’t tell you enough about the brew, just read the bottle: “You’re Not Worthy.”

The San Diego brewery’s website claims that the 7.3 percent ABV-beer “openly challenged the tyrannical overlords who were brazenly attempting to keep Americans chained in the shackles of poor taste.” So if you happen to be free of your oppressive beer shackles, Aces & Ales (3740 South Nellis Blvd.) has a job for you: Help them become the Most Arrogant Bar in America.

You don’t have to be a conceited ale connoisseur to assist in their endeavor; you just have to drink like one.

The Stone Brewing-sponsored competition began on October 28, but there are still four days to help the beer bar take the title before the contest wraps on Sunday, November 6. And while they’re in the running, Aces is giving you more than a few reasons to order a Stone.

Arrogant Bastard, Oaked Arrogant Bastard and the 2010 & 2011 Double Bastard Ales are being featured on tap throughout the competition, and the bar is offering enticing pint and growler specials to patrons who help fulfill their mission. Your first Bastard is $7 and includes $3 refills and a Stone Brewing Co. pint glass (while supplies last). Pitchers of “Liquid Arrogance” run $12, as do growler refills. On November 5 and 6, Aces & Ales plans to “drink to the finish,” offering serious discounts on Stone draft refills—$2 for pints and $10 for pitchers and growlers.

So the Weekly has just one piece of advice if you go: Don’t even think about ordering a Bud Light; doing so would get you a few weird looks. Some might even call them arrogant.
