Ravella’s Sip & Spa events provide an early evening escape

From strip mall salons that skip the frills to the Strip’s outrageously opulent spas, Vegas has escapes enough for an army. But only a handful can make you forget where you are.

The Spa at Ravella spins some heady amnesia. When the resort opened in the former Ritz-Carlton space this February, its “Mediterranean-inspired oasis in the Southwestern desert” concept both fit and re-energized the Lake Las Vegas community.

Just off Ravella’s grand courtyard, the spa is an insulated world of luxury. But you don’t have to have a thick bankroll to indulge. Fall promotion Sip & Spa Thursdays (through November 17) offers express spa and salon treatments paired with signature cocktails, plus hors d’oeuvres, spa gifts and childcare for only $25.

Why not pair that martini with a manicure?

“We hope Sip & Spa’s affordable pricing encourages local women to treat themselves to a night out with friends for some much-needed relaxation, without feeling guilty,” says Nancy DiMaio, the director of spa and fitness.

The treat starts with atmosphere—the creamy colors and ornate vanities, the natural light and breezes spilling in from the terrace, the meditation garden and mountain vistas. Cocktails make it an occasion. Ravella’s Bellini has the bold sweetness of a summer peach, much like nail technician Aleeta Ballard, whose exfoliating scrub is as refreshing as her sense of humor.

Pairings such as “Martinis & Manicures” and “Long Islands & Lashes” put a novel spin on signature treatments infused with botanicals and minerals from the Nevada desert. Guests also score takeaways from beauty lines such as OPI and Naturopathica, but the best part of the event is the chance to catch up with friends (and actually hear them).

“The idea behind Sip & Spa is to give locals an alternative to their typical happy hour spot in a gorgeous, relaxing environment,” DiMaio says. “The spa offers an experience that can’t be found on the Strip, allowing guests an opportunity to truly escape.”
