First Las Vegas Papyrus store shows off the power of paper

The 52-year-old brand opens at Fashion Show Mall

I correspond via email. I never ask for receipts. My last printer cartridge ran out two years ago, and I’ve yet to replace it.

In this increasingly digital world, I live an increasingly digital life. Yet, there’s still something meaningful about the weight of a real letter in your hand. There’s still a sense of anticipation as you wriggle a finger under the edge of an envelope. And there’s still an intrinsic power in paper that type on a screen can’t quite summon. For people who know this, there’s now Papyrus in Las Vegas.

The elegant stationary store and lifestyle brand opened its first Vegas location at the Fashion Show Mall this Thursday, an 800-square-foot space where customers can browse the stationery accessory bar, shop for gifts and jewelry in the NIQUEA.D in-store boutique and bask in a world of designer paper. The 52-year-old brand has 180 locations in North America, and will celebrate the grand opening of its latest addition with a party on May 19. The event will feature wearable paper dresses made from Papyrus products and created by Project Runway vet Rami Kashou and the brand’s in-house designers. The dresses will reference iconic local casinos like Bellagio, Venetian and Caesars Palace and will be displayed in a “gallery-style fashion show.”

Papyrus is open Monday-Saturday, 10 a.m.-9 p.m. and Sunday, noon-7 p.m.
