KJ Dim Sum & Seafood arrives at the Rio

Look out, Ping Pang Pong — KJ Dim Sum & Seafood is ready to give you some serious competition.

The Details

KJ Dim Sum & Seafood
Rio, 777-7777
Daily, 10 a.m.-2 a.m.

Since it’s one of our city’s best Chinese eateries, you have to respect the recent expansion of KJ Kitchen (5960 W. Spring Mountain Road, Suite 1D) into the Rio. The new KJ Dim Sum & Seafood is a big, beautiful, red restaurant serving up some of the standards from the old KJ (whole Imperial Peking duck, salt and pepper crab) and a whole bunch of new stuff.

Dim sum is the most obvious addition to KJ’s repertoire, and the new restaurant opens an hour earlier to accommodate the traditional brunchy meal. The expansive space and army of steam cart pilots make this one of the most pleasant dim sum experiences in town, rivaling the favorite Ping Pang Pong at Gold Coast across the street. The evening meal—particularly that succulent duck—is equally pleasing. Besides that, stick to the sea treats: fu kien seafood fried rice or lobster braised with ginger and scallions, for example.
