A timeline of gun violence in Nevada since the Sandy Hook shootings

December 14: Edward Brandt fatally shoots his ex-girlfriend, Jessica Kenny, at the Excalibur before committing suicide.

December 17: Angel Montoya exchanges gunfire with a Metro police officer. Neither is injured, and Montoya is arrested on multiple charges, including assault with a deadly weapon.

December 24: An apartment resident shoots and kills a man suspected of trying to burglarize his apartment.

December 31: David Byrd Jr. leads Nevada Highway Patrol officers on a high-speed chase through parts of the Las Vegas Valley, after which he attempts to flee on foot. Officers open fire, critically wounding him.

January 2: Narada Goodrum, a suspect in a slaying in San Antonio, shoots and kills himself while being chased by police officers.

January 5: A man is shot and killed near Cheyenne Road and Civic Center Drive in North Las Vegas.

January 6: Brandon Ogonowski, a man suspected of armed robbery, is wounded after exchanging gunfire with police near East Bonanza Road and North Maryland Parkway.

January 8: Anthony Anderson and Evin Russell are shot and killed by four assailants who break into a south Valley apartment. Sasha Williams, Maurice Sims, Brandon Range and Da Ron Morris have all been arrested in connection with the killings.

January 12: Haji Mohamed, 16, is killed while leaving a birthday party after a barrage of gunfire erupts at an apartment complex. An 18-year-old is shot and injured.

January 14: Carlos Rasmond Randle is shot to death in the south Valley. Michael Roy Smith is later arrested in connection with the shooting.

January 18: Deandre Turbin is shot in the head (and remains on life support at UMC). Another man, Celester Lamar Watkins, is shot in the shoulder. Christopher B. Berry II and Antonio M. Castillo are later arrested.

January 19: Two women are wounded when one or more gunmen open fire on a crowded soccer field in Las Vegas.

January 21: Hans Walters, a retired police lieutenant, shoots and kills his wife and his 5-year-old son, then torches his house and shoots and kills himself after calling 911.

January 28: A man carjacks an NHP car and another vehicle in northern Nevada before killing himself with the trooper’s shotgun.

January 29: James Daniel McCarty, 54, shoots and kills his family, including his wife and two children, in their Las Vegas home before turning a gun on himself. He later dies from his wounds.

February 2: Tamas Horvath is shot and wounded by police in Las Vegas after pointing a gun at officers while being chased. The man, who allegedly robbed a U.S. Bank, leads officers on a car chase before being shot. As part of the chase, the suspect breaks into two homes. In the second home invasion, a homeowner shoots at Horvath.

February 3: Keith Barlow is arrested for allegedly shooting and killing Danielle Woods, his ex-girlfriend, and her new boyfriend, Donnie Cobb.

February 4: Dr. Joseph Piracci, whose home had been burglarized recently, shoots and kills a man suspected of attempting to break into his bedroom.

February 6: Three teenagers are injured in a shootout in a Strip property parking garage, the result of a high school dispute.

February 6: A Pahrump man is arrested after shooting his daughter’s boyfriend during an argument.

February 7: Fugitive Javier Reyes is killed in a gunfight in a Las Vegas neighborhood. An FBI agent is wounded.

February 8: Las Vegas police shoot and kill Robert Antonio Torres, a man wanted for the attempted murder of his girlfriend, and wound a man and a woman near Clark High School. Torres fired at the officers before being shot.

February 9: A man is found dead in an apartment from gunshot wounds.

February 17: A man is arrested after shooting a teenager in the Amargosa Valley. The teen later dies.

February 21: Three people are killed when a gunman in a Range Rover fatally shoots the driver of a Maserati on the Strip near Flamingo Road, causing the Maserati to speed into the intersection and strike a cab, which explodes into flames, killing its occupants.

February 21: Benedetto Vitale, a former director of SafeNest who was fired from his job after being arrested on counts of open and gross lewdness, forgery and sexually motivated coercion, shoots and kills himself on Interstate 15.

February 22: A man is shot and killed in an alley not far from the UNLV campus.

February 23: A Reno police officer shoots and kills a man while responding to a domestic dispute.
