As We See It

UFC’s fight of the night

Given the paucity of fight cards featuring women, it still seems a novelty to have an MMA event with a women’s match, especially in the UFC. In only the UFC’s second bout featuring women, Cat Zingano (in purple) faced off against favorite Miesha Tate (in pink) in one of The Ultimate Fighter 17 finale’s headlining bouts and a fight that should put to rest any arguments about the quality of the competition.

I’m not knowledgeable enough about MMA to consider myself a judge, let alone someone who can knowledgeably write about the sport, but the skill, resilience and ferocity shown by Zingano and Tate had me thinking that theirs would be the fight of the night. Apparently I was right, as Dana White gave it that coveted title.
