Despite a letter to fans last week touting his good health, Morrissey has postponed Saturday’s show at the Cosmopolitan’s Chelsea Ballroom due to illness. This marks the second time the singer has postponed his gig at the Cosmopolitan.

According to an announcement on Morrissey’s official Facebook page, the former Smiths frontman will reschedule Saturday’s show—along with a date in Phoenix—due to ongoing treatment for a bleeding ulcer and Barrett’s esophagus. The new rescheduled dates will reportedly be announced in the coming days. The tour will resume February 12 in El Paso, Texas.

Morrissey rescheduled several U.S. tour dates in 2012, including a November 23 stop at the Chelsea, due to issues with his mother’s health. This Saturday’s show was planned to make up for that date.

The singer already canceled several shows on the rescheduled tour due to his health woes, though last week he posted a tongue-in-cheek message on fan site True to You stating that “the reports of my death have been greatly understated,” and reaffirming his commitment to playing this weekend’s show in Las Vegas.

“I am fully determined to resume the tour on February 9 at the Chelsea Ballroom in Las Vegas,” he wrote. “If there's an audience of any kind in attendance, I just might die with a smile on my face, after all. If I am not there, I shall probably never again be anywhere.”

We’ll keep our fingers crossed that that isn’t the case. Check back later for updates and more info.
