“I’ve never seen someone come into the arcade and not smile. Because it reminds them of a moment,” says Freddie Delatorre, assistant general manager of Hi Scores Bar-Arcade. “Cocktails should be the same. There’s a DNA to them.”

Hi Scores opened last fall in Henderson, and this past weekend Delatorre introduced The Walking Redd’s ($4), a libation inspired by AMC’s The Walking Dead. It’s a cocktail so simple a zombie could make it and so delicious it might bring one back to life. As for the appropriate time to sample a Walking Redd’s? That would be Hi Scores’ weekly Walking Dead parties, where fans of the show gather to drink, watch and chat about—you got it—zombies.

The Walking Redd’s

Ingredients:

¼ oz. homemade blood orange simple syrup (directions below)

1 bottle Redd’s Apple Ale

Method: Add blood orange simple syrup to a 5 oz. glass. Top with Redd’s Apple Ale.

Ingredients for Blood Orange Simple Syrup:

1 cup water

1 cup sugar

2 cups fresh blood orange juice (from about 4 lbs. of blood oranges)

Method: Boil equal parts sugar and water until sugar dissolves. Let cool.

Juice blood oranges and strain through sieve until liquid has a velvety texture. Mix with cooled simple syrup.
