Million Dollar Quartet The musical at Harrah’s centering on the onerous meeting and jam session on December 4, 1956—involving Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins and Elvis Presley—is a well-performed, nostalgic exercise featuring the hits of all four rock ’n’ roll legends. The music is played live by those onstage.

Raiding the Rock Vault No character portrayal in this history-of-rock performance at LVH. The band is loaded with veteran rockers, featuring the show’s co-writer John Payne (Asia) and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Howard Leese (Heart). There’s a thin storyline involving the futuristic discovery of a vault filled with vintage rock standards, and following a group of friends through the 1960s, ’70 and ’80s. But the music is the draw, with the Stones, Led Zeppelin, Journey and Bon Jovi among many artists sampled.

Pin Up Claire Sinclair, the 2011 Playboy Playmate of the Year, is the star and recurring emcee of this teaser of a production at Stratosphere. The show features a quintet of tireless dancers, a six-piece band powered by trumpet master David Perrico and the vocals of Anne Martinez, late of Bite (Savannah Smith of Vegas! The Show is the new “swing” singer).

Michael Jackson One A creative team led by former Jackson backing dancer Jamie King has reshaped the arena version of the show into what promises to be a powerful audio and visual experience at Mandalay Bay. Samples: A quintet of gangster-costumed dancers performing the “Smooth Criminal” forward lean; and a pair of glowing, disembodied shoes performing a moonwalk. The preview opening for Cirque’s latest Strip spectacle is May 23, and the world premiere is June 29.

Jabbawockeez The dance troupe is maturing, with the members in their early 30s, and is expanding its sound and attire (look for changes to some of those white masks) for PRiSM at the Luxor. The energy level and creative vigor among the members moving into a freshly built, customized 830-seat theater remains very high.

Priscilla Queen of the Desert BASE Entertainment says it will play upon the musical’s flamboyance, a logical move given that the storyline follows the trek of two drag queens and a transsexual woman across the Australian Outback in a bus they’ve named “Priscilla.” The show opens June 18 for a summer run at Venetian.
