Halloween

All Hallow’s … week?

All Hallow’s … week?

Welcome to the start of the longest holiday celebration on the Las Vegas social calendar! Don’t believe us? Just think about it: Labor Day, Memorial Day and the Fourth of July get a long weekend, maybe four or five days each. New Year’s Eve gets the boon of shoulder days like New Year’s Eve-Eve and our favorite club creation, the industry/local New Year’s Eve “do-overs” on January 1. Not even Hanukkah gets nine full nights of naughty-costumed, face-painted, what-the-hell-are-you-supposed-to-be bliss. The festivities kick off on Saturday, October 25 with Beauty Bar’s Bloody Orgy, Puff’s Electro House of Horrors and the 13th annual Fetish and Fantasy Ball. And the thrilling spree doesn’t stop until Sunday, November 2 with Body English’s naughty-schoolgirl contest and Asia’s industry post-Halloween afterhours. Thousands in cash and prizes are up for the taking with some uniquely themed costume contests, such as Privé’s search for the “naughtiest, filthiest, dirtiest” costume and Revolution’s Pretty in Pink-themed event. Don’t think you can handle that much boo and ahh? Save it up then for Halloween night, when no fewer than 20 huge bashes will be going off simultaneously. Keep an eye on Xania’s special-edition orange Hot Spots for all the Halloweek action. We dare you to hit them all!

Putting on the Rouge

Do you remember when you were a kid and you’d pour orange juice into an ice-cube tray to make a delicious treat? We do (still doing it …), and it looks like Rouge lounge at MGM Grand does, too, because flavored ice cubes are back! Okay, so there’s more to Lace Mondays at Rouge than fancy ice, but sometimes it’s the little things in life that impress us.

Rouge quietly started up Lace Mondays some time ago, but apparently did it so quietly that no one knows exactly when it began. But we know it’s there now from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. and has the potential to be another nightclub alternative. In just one more sign of the times, the intimate venue charges no cover and offers a hosted bar from 6 to 9 p.m., spotlighting a different liquor each week. Free well drinks are also offered to all ladies and industry staff from 6 to 9. DJ CO-1 spins party music throughout the night and—prepare yourselves—actually takes requests. Did we mention the ice cubes are pomegranate flavored?

  • Yes, he’s the son of Victor Drai, but he’s not the Vegas kid you might be imagining.

  • He’ll play three times this weekend—at EBC, XS and the Life Is Beautiful festival.

  • He just put the finishing touches on his next album and will likely tease new tracks at the festival and at Marquee.
