When superstar DJ/producer David Guetta isn’t working on new tracks and remixes, he’s jet-setting to gigs around the globe. So it was understandable when his management said he was too busy to chat with the Weekly before his April 16 gig at Haze. Instead, Guetta’s people sent over a recently conducted generic interview—the first time we’ve received such a thing. So we thought we’d do a little remixing of our own and mash-up his answers (printed exactly as we received them) with completely unrelated (and fictitious) new questions.

You’ve recently been taking dance classes to unwind and Kelly Rowland went with you to a salsa lesson. How did that go?

My experience with Kelly was special because it was my first experience.

How about your Viennese waltz class with the Black Eyed Peas’ Will.i.am?

Me and Will.i.am have a very special vibe together.

Rumor has it you were being considered as a contestant on Dancing with the Stars alongside Akon, your hit-making partner on “Sexy Bitch.” But you both didn’t make it past the auditions. What happened?

Akon and I bumped into each other.

Are you rooting for anyone in particular on this season of DWTS?

I really don’t have a favourite.

Do you think other DJ/producers might follow your lead and take their artistry from the DJ booth to the dance floor?

I’m very proud to be at the forefront of the movement.

Do you do a lot of research on different style of dance?

I am touring the world constantly.

You must miss your wife back home and going to dance lessons with her. How do you combat loneliness on the road?

I take my laptop to bed.

We hear sometimes it’s difficult for venues to get you to leave after a night out dancing. Is that true?

I will never leave the clubs.

Do you like Fleetwood Mac’s album The Dance?

The first thing I do in the morning is listen to it.

Why did you become interested in ballroom dancing in the first place?

I want people to feel good and touch them.

What about learning some hip-hop dance moves and then auditioning for America’s Best Dance Crew?

The chances of that happening are ridiculous.

Your native country of France is so proud of your accomplishments in dance music and now your skills on the ballroom circuit. They’re considering renaming the Eiffel Tower the “Guetta Tower.” What are your thoughts on that?

I’m incredibly grateful.
