Whispering Giants' Preview Weekend @ Rumor

Party people were either there or trying to figure out how to get invited. Las Vegans with a Twitter account were almost surely heard about the happenings at the new Rumor boutique hotel last weekend.

“We had come up with the idea of a unique publicity stunt to bring a lot of attention to the property,” says Jimmy Foster of marketing group Whispering Giants (and The Executive Lounge). “This was a way to bring a lot of local influencers in to let them experience the property, share it with other people via word of mouth and create a very high level of chatter through social media.”

And it worked.

Attendees tweeted up a storm about the Siegel Group property (the Siegel Group also owns the Artisan and other boutique hotels). Almost unrecognizable as its former incarnation, the St Tropez, word got out about the cocktail and pool parties, awesome food at Rumor’s restaurant, and nightlife mainstay Jack Colton — propelled by Milagro margaritas — plunging — sans clothes — into the pool. It was almost as if the nightlife industry moved into its own exclusive Melrose Place. “Colton texted me Saturday morning at 7 a.m. and goes, ‘Ummm, who should I apologize to for cannonballing naked in to the pool at 1 a.m.?’” laughs Foster. “I said, ‘Nobody! It’s fine!’” Even the staff from Vanity at the Hard Rock wandered across the street for post-work cocktails at 4 a.m.

This is only the beginning of Whispering Giants’ nontraditional approach to events. Already hosting a mansion party and organizing Travel & Leisure’s Vegas Style Awards party August 14 at Gold Lounge, the group's Flying Private party plane concept is also taking off with the next trip destined for Avalon Hollywood on August 7. “People come together, we met for drinks and hors d’oeuvres and mingle for a little bit, then we take a limo to the private airport where we’re greeted by the jet and a case of Dom,” says Foster. “It’s designed to get people out of town for a unique experience and back in the city as if they never left.”

Flying Private also is planning on reversing the party plane to bring in revelers from LA, Scottsdale, Orange County, San Francisco and other cities to party in Vegas for an evening. And they take care of everything for one flat rate, so no additional cover charges, table service fees or the like.

But Foster and crew aren’t just about cool exclusivity and primo events. “Whispering Giants is going to put together something called The Men’s Philanthropy Group,” says Foster. “We don’t have anything like this in the city, but we have two women’s philanthropy groups — which is great.”

Yearning to be invited to upcoming events? Perhaps we should keep it a secret, but Foster says the best way to keep in the loop about Whispering Giants and the chance to be invited to parties is through their Facebook page.
