A lot’s changed since the first Playboy Club opened in 1960 in downtown Chicago. We’ve fought wars, landed on the moon, developed an Internet addiction and seen our first black president take office. The iconic Bunnies have changed, too. They’ve donned bow ties, taken to ski slopes, learned to deal blackjack and perfected a move known as the “Bunny dip.”
On June 10, the last remaining Playboy Club from an empire that once stretched from Lansing, Michigan to Manila, Philippines celebrated 50 years of satin-clad sex appeal with a blowout bash high atop the Palms. However, the Vegas-based Bunnies won’t be alone for long. Before the end of the year, Playboy is slated to open “multifaceted entertainment venues” in Miami, Cancun and Macau. Don’t call it a comeback; the Bunnies have been hot for years.
