Take solace in drinking Firestone Walker’s Solace beer

Intrigued? Remember that Solace is seasonal, so be sure to score one before summer ends!

Firestone Walker’s Solace is like Olivia Munn—both defy classification. Munn inexplicably combines hotness with nerdiness, while Solace is the mutant offspring of a hefeweizen and Belgian Saison ale. Walker’s website describes its style as “summertime fusion wheat beer,” and trust me when I tell you that is not an officially recognized beer style.

Solace is Firestone’s first bottled seasonal; it premiered prior to last summer. I’m not a wheat beer fan, but this is not your typical hefe. It has the usual notes of banana and clove, but it’s remarkably more drinkable. And its inherently light body and relatively low (6 percent) ABV makes for a great poolside session beer. Word of warning: Be sure to grab this treat before summer’s end. You’re about as likely to find it after August as you are to score a date with Ms. Munn.
