With pool season going into hibernation soon, those looking for a true Vegas experience during the day can beat it with a stick, as it were, at Ghostbar Day Club. Why go shopping, gambling or sightseeing at the world’s landmark replicas when there are piñatas to burst, 40-ouncers to quench your thirst and maybe even an appearance by … Fred Durst? Okay, the celebrity chosen out of rhyming convenience might not actually be in attendance, but you never know who’s going to pop onto the 55th floor to check out the outrageous party. Following the success of its first season at the Palms, GBDC returns for a second year on October 20, with plans to be an ongoing brand.

According to Bronson Olimpieri, co-general manager and VP for N9NE Group, the first year of GBDC had 10 to 12 random (aka unpaid) celebrity appearances. “I think just nonchalantly, people are checking in Saturday and hear about this party going on upstairs … So, we’ll probably be seeing more of that this year.”

GBDC, which started out of a casual conversation, will be keeping many of the “home runs” of its first season, including prize-filled piñatas, beer bongs, 40s, go-go dancers and over-the-top theatrics. Sex Panther, Alie Layus and Mark Stylz will be rotating resident DJs with surprise performances and theme parties also in the works.

“Right now in Vegas, everything’s about these big, mega DJs that are $100,000-plus, and it’s very successful,” Olimpieri says. “GBDC is really about the party. The music’s gonna be great, no matter who you like or what you like. .... It’s really about coming to a party that’s fun, over the top and different. I would say it’s 100 percent based on the actual event. That’s why you show up.”
