The original House Party movie isn’t about Kid ’n Play. It’s not even about Bilal, the dragon-breath DJ, played by Martin Lawrence. It’s about the music, because the music makes the party, and that’s the idea behind DJ Franzen’s House Party at Drai’s, too.

Franzen, Las Vegas’ hip-hop stalwart, will take clubbers on a stroll down memory lane on select Sundays throughout the year with these ’90s and ’00s-themed parties, complete with period-appropriate outfits costuming Drai’s staffers; Franny even donned his best Bilal outfit for last month’s House Party.

It’s an extra-special affair for the Bay Area-born DJ, who premiered many of these throwback tracks when they first came out during his radio career. And it’s not all hip-hop; memorable R&B and pop-dance tunes will also make their way into the setlist. We’re not sure if you’ll be slow-dancing to Heatwave’s version of “Always and Forever” at Drai’s on Sunday night, but you’ll definitely be dancing.

DJ Franzen's House Party February 25, 10:30 p.m., $20-$30. Drai’s at the Cromwell, 702-605-4000.
