Everybody loves a good swimming pool, but getting into one on the Strip sometimes feels less convenient than it should. First, there’s the entry fee. Want a cabana? That could end up costing you a month’s rent. Of course, you’re going to want drinks, and that’s probably going to break the bank, too. It’s fine if you’ve just hit Megabucks, but not so great if you just want to lay by the pool and soak up the sunshine with your friends.

Lucky for the rest of us, the Linq understands balling on a budget, and the resort’s new Influence pool might be just the way to do it. Not only does Influence offer free entry to all guests every day of the week, it has affordable cabanas and drinks, plus live entertainment every day from noon to 5 p.m.

Ready to turn up on a Tuesday? You’re in good hands—locals and industry-folk get two-for-one drinks, beers and bottles.

There’s no right or wrong way to enjoy Influence, but start by splitting a cabana with some friends and then ordering a pitcher or two, to start. The Honey Buzz Lemonade is a great way to begin, made with Jack Daniel’s, house-pressed lemonade, cantaloupe syrup and angostura bitters. Or maybe the Rum Runner is more your style, with Mt. Gay Eclipse rum, banana and blackberry liqueurs and pineapple and orange juices.

Challenge your friends to a jumbo game of Jenga—or better yet, take on your cabana neighbors; loser gets the next round. When it’s time to cool off, a jump in the main pool will keep the party going. If you’re looking for something more private, head to the smaller pool toward the back for a break from all the shenanigans.

Another great thing about Influence is how much it feels like being at a friend’s backyard party. The heavenly scent of the adjacent Virgil’s Real Barbecue wafting in on a hot summer day gives off some serious summer vibes, too.

When you’re out day drinking, you’re also going to want grub at some point. The Taco Spot has got you covered, with its assortment of fresh soft and hard shell tacos, tostadas, rice bowls, wings and more. Once you’ve worked up a larger appetite splashing around under the hot sun, head to Virgil’s for the perfect post-swim meal.

When you’re ready for round two, Influence is just a minute away, so you can pick up right where you left off. What are you waiting for?

INFLUENCE Daily, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.; The Pool at the Linq, 702-835-5713.
