Las Vegas clubs return … as pools and lounges

They said the Vegas buffet might be gone forever. On Monday, Wynn Las Vegas announced its acclaimed buffet would reopen on Thursday.

They also said nightclubs and dayclubs would be done, at least for the summer. A bit trickier, but still doable. And it’s happening this week at Wynn and Cosmopolitan.

Intrigue, the 14,000-square-foot luxury nightclub that shuttered last summer after four years at Wynn, has been reactivated as Intrigue Lounge, an ideal place for cocktails before or after dinner. It’s open Friday and Saturday at 9 p.m., reservations are recommended and guests must also be 21 and over. There's music but no DJ. If you spent any time inside Intrigue or on the patio facing the multicolored waterfall, it’s easy to imagine this versatile venue as a lounge instead of a traditional Vegas club experience.

More recently, Encore Beach Club has begun serving as Encore Beach Pool, a temporary extension of the Wynn and Encore resort pools. Reservations are required, and visitors must be 21 and over at this pool, open Friday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Non-hotel guests are welcome here only if they book a daybed or cabana, while hotel guests don’t need to do that. Again, it will feature ambient music along with food and drink service, but the DJ booth will be empty.

That will not be the case at Marquee Dayclub at Cosmo when it returns June 19 as Marquee Pool, “an amplified, more mature daytime pool experience for guests 21 years and older with reservations,” according to a statement released by the Tao Group on Monday. The venue’s signature food menu, specialty cocktails and bottle service offerings will be available, and one of the club’s resident DJs will be on the decks. Marquee Pool will be open from 11 a.m. until sunset Friday through Sunday, and daybeds, cabanas and tables will be available. Non-hotel guests are welcome.

The Tao Group has already opened its Cosmopolitan restaurant Beauty & Essex for dinner Wednesday through Sunday from 6 to 10:30 p.m., and it will reopen Lavo at Palazzo on June 18 for dinner Thursday through Sunday during those same hours.
