UNLVino’s welcome cocktail is a transcendent blend of tequila and moscato

Tequila and moscato were caught k-i-s-s-i-n-g in a tree. First came love, then marriage. Then out popped El Tecato, a bundle of joy in a tumbler glass.

This Italo-Mexican concoction was designed by Southern Wine and Spirits Director of Mixology and Spirits Education Francesco Lanfranconi as the welcome cocktail for the highly anticipated UNLVino Grand Tasting at Bally’s Saturday, March 24.

Ambhar Reposado Tequila provides an oaky base of peppery heat with serotonin- raising effects. The Venetian Mionetto Moscato softens the cocktail with a feminine touch: floral honey bouquet, gentle bubbles and flavors of pear and orange zest. The ice sphere cools without diluting and the fruit keeps it fresh. It’s the ideal cocktail to kick off a grand tasting, sip as an aperitif or make in batches for pool party friends and summer romances. –Sabrina Chapman
