When you think of summer, odds are thoughts of legendary literary character Don Quixote don’t spring to mind. But after trying a Distorted Chivalry at the Venetian’s Postrio, that might change.

Created by Postrio bartender Joe Intiso, Distorted Chivalry uses Don Q Gran Añejo Rum as its foundation. Don Q is, of course, named after the famous windmill jouster, and the cocktail gets its name from that hero’s propensity for causing more misery than triumph, despite his best intentions.

Intiso placed 10th in the 2012 Don Q Mix It Up Cocktail competition with this libation, and there’s no better way to deal with summer’s triple-digit temps than to get a bit distorted with his ultra-refreshing cocktail.

Distorted Chivalry

Ingredients:

1 ¾ oz. Don Q Gran Añejo Rum

¾ oz. Pierre Ferrand Dry Orange Curaçao

½ oz. orgeat syrup

½ oz. fresh lime juice

¼ oz. Crème Yvette

¼ oz. Pernod

Method: Add all ingredients to a mixing glass and shake hard for 10 seconds. Wash inside a chilled cocktail glass with Pernod. Strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with a lime wheel.
