Z-Trip at Hard Rock Hotel The mashup master placed third in DJ Times’ America’s Best DJ competition last year and was nominated again for the 2012 honor (EDM fans can vote until September 4 at djtimes.com/americasbestdj). Wiz Khalifa at Palms Pool & Bungalows Maybe best known for his Grammy-nominated 2010 single “Black and Yellow,” the rapper releases his sophomore album, O.N.I.F.C., in September. Wiz headlines the Palms’ LDW festivities, performing his radio hits (such as “Young, Wild & Free”) as well as material off the new album for the hotel’s Ditch Fridays pool party. XenArt: The Energy of Art Afterparty at The Lady Silvia/Amanda Harris Gallery The Downtown watering hole and art gallery partner to present the official afterparty for locally based energy drink company Xyience’s art contest exhibition. Partygoers can peruse the show’s art and sample Xyience’s two new flavors, Melon Mayhem and Tangerine Twister. August 31, 10 p.m., free entry.
Tiësto at XS The Dutch DJ will headline the largest single DJ event in the U.S. at LA’s Home Depot Center on October 8. Experience the international superstar (in the comfort of smaller lines and crowds) at the Encore nightspot Friday night. DJ Warren Peace provides an opening set. White Party at Krave Everyone knows the rule: no white after Labor Day. The Float at the Colorado River Technically the event isn’t in Las Vegas, but it’s well worth hitting the road for this edition of CollectiveZoo’s Pool Party Safari. The nightlife company takes its game up a notch for the Labor Day holiday with a four-hour float down the Colorado River. A houseboat leads the booze cruise from Bullhead City, Arizona, to Laughlin, with DJs Topsider and Sousay bringing the beats on the party barge. Luciano at Wet Republic Taking a break from his summer sets in Ibiza, the Swiss-Chilean producer hops the pond to play New York’s Electric Zoo EDM fest on Friday and continues jet-setting for a Saturday show at the MGM Grand ultra pool. Jenna Jameson at Crazy Horse III The former porn star turned her adult acting gigs into an empire, even penning a bestselling novel about her experiences. The onetime Las Vegas local returns to host the gentlemen’s club’s end of summer bash—that’s eye candy complemented by eye candy. September 1, 11 p.m., free.
David Guetta at Encore Beach Club & XS He’s scored more than a few recent radio hits (“Titanium” sound familiar?) and has collaborated with A-list acts on many of his singles—“Sexy Bitch” with Akon and, more recently, “Where Them Girls At” with Nicki Minaj and Flo Rida. Guetta returns to the Wynn to play two poolside sets, under the sun at EBC’s Daystar Sundays party and at XS’s Night Swim. Well, when he’s not fixing air-conditioners or adventuring with Abed in an imaginary alternate dimension, he’s rapper Childish Gambino. Paul Oakenfold at Hard Rock Hotel HRH’s former flagship nightclub Body English opens its doors this weekend to present Kandy Vegas’ Kandy Afterhours (for more info on Kandy Vegas, see this week’s feature). The veteran EDM producer makes his appearance there on Sunday and also brings the noise to the hotel’s Relax Mondays pool party the next day.
