Congrats, industry employees: You’ve survived a seriously wild Memorial Day Weekend. The LVCVA predicted about 311,000 visitors descending on Las Vegas—a two-point increase over last year—and, chances are, a good portion of that population hit a bar, club or party pool during their stay. Thanks to all our local nightlife staffers for keeping them safe, smiling and spending while in town. Take a deep breath: You’ve got a month till July 4.
How do you take a wholesome family treat and make it, well, not? Introducing Pick Your Poison, a new line of alcohol-infused cupcakes in flavors like Jack and Coke, Malibu and pineapple and (yikes!) Jäger bomb. The creation of a Griffin bartender and Okada host, PYP holds its official launch June 2 at the Downtown bar with plenty of saucy treats to sample. “We want to be the black sheep of the cupcake world,” says partner Robyn Holt. Mission, burp, accomplished.
Drinking beer and listening to live outdoor music are two great pleasures of a summer night. Springs Preserve combines them June 4 for Brews & Blues, featuring pours from New Belgium, Deschutes, Lagunitas and more alongside tunes from five bands on two stages. The $30 ticket ($25 in advance) gets you a souvenir mug, unlimited suds from 4-8 p.m. and a sweet Sunday morning hangover, if you’re not careful.
Advance notice: The last weekend in June is only getting hotter. Already, Electric Daisy Carnival is bringing the biggest names in EDM to the Speedway, and now industry staple DJ Mag is holding its 20th anniversary party over two days at Surrender. Slated to spin June 24-25 are Steve Aoki, Feed Me, Calvin Harris and Sidney Samson, which means even if you don’t want to fight the crowds, you still have four good reasons to get down.
