Nightlife News & Notes: Lavo launches $200 Bottle Bash and more

It’s only a matter of time until Ryan Lochte brings his gleaming grill and hits the club circuit, right?

Every local knows the best nights to hit the Strip are the ones when it’s not clogged with tourists drinking out of toddler-sized pint glasses. And Lavo agrees. The Palazzo restaurant and club is launching the $200 Bottle Bash in its lounge on Mondays and Thursdays. With a booze selection that includes Stoli, Absolut, Dewar’s 12, 10 Cane Rum, Jack Daniel’s, Taittinger Champagne and more, it’s the perfect pregame for a big night out or a great alternative to hitting the club.

You love your dog, but most evening activities in Las Vegas aren’t conducive to canine company. Good thing Rumor’s pup-friendly happy hour is back this Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. for a special Elvis-themed edition dubbed Viva Yappy Hour. Dress your dog like the King for the Elvis costume contest, check out swag from sponsors Sniffany and Company and The Dog House, and donate cash to The Animal Foundation to supply food, beds and toys for stray dogs. Don’t blame me when the urge to adopt kicks in hard.

Now that the Olympics have wrapped, our medal-winning men and women should give themselves a pat on the back and take a break from training to visit sunny Las Vegas. So, who’ll join Apolo Ohno as a regular athlete-about-town and club host? It seems inevitable that new LA-transplant (and perfectly sculpted specimen) Ryan Lochte will make his way to the Strip, but I’d be more interested in seeing Misty and Kerri play poolside foosball at Cosmo or watching what happens when the women’s soccer team unwinds for a weekend at Encore. Maybe gold-medalist Ashton Eaton could host a nightlife decathlon at Haze or Michael Phelps could teach swim lessons at Ditch Fridays. Hey, a girl can dream, right?
