Glass Blowing Workshop Teaches STEAM to Students
The Smith Center for the Performing Arts partnered with Clark County School District and Domsky Glass this week to host multiple STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) workshops, in which Cashman Middle School students created glass art with local and nationally recognized glass artists. Students learned about the artistry and scientific processes behind glass blowing. Renowned pianist Philip Fortenberry was also on site, composing and performing music on the spot, using the glass blowing as inspiration. Students shadowed Fortenberry as he worked.
